150cc Motor scooter boging down?

I bought a motor scoooter 150cc, It started bogging down out of no where. It only has 500miles on it. I took the advice of a friend and I bought a new Carburator installed it and its still boging down…..I checked the lines and theres no blockage and I changed the spark plug no luck HELP

I’m assuming by bogging down, you mean that the engine loses power significantly, but stays running. And I assume you have no explanation for the power loss other than the engine itself, nothing like an odor signifying a brake problem?

I’ll assume also, that while it’s only got 500 miles on it, its out of warranty, because you bought a new carb instead of having it repaired at the dealer. buying the new carb isn’t a bad way to go, as carburation is certainly a candidate for an engine bogging down. Since that’s been eliminated, assuming the problem isn’t linkage issues to the carburator, we can proceed to fuel and air flow. At 150cc I assume we are talking about a one cylinder engine still? Let’s test that you are getting plenty of fuel to the carb. Remove the fuel line at the carburator and hold the line in the same position in terms of distance to the ground and direction of flow. Let the gas drain into a gas can and see if you notice the flow slowing. Is it as strong a flow as you would expect a similar sized line to have if nothing was impeding it? If not, check the fuel filter. either eliminate it with a stent or just replace it with a new one. Be sure you install it in the correct direction of flow.

If the fuel is flowing strong, reattach it to the carb and test. If the engine still bogs down after a brief normal operation, I would look at the air cleaner. Just remove it and run the engine to see if the bogging has been eliminated. If that solves it, replace the air cleaner with a new one, or thoroughly clean the one you have if its a sponge type filter and you can’t get a new one right away.
